Initial Incident
The story Paper Towns begins with a prologue where John Green is talking about a man Q and Margo found dead in the park. It is at this point the author talks about how the two were only 9 years old and found a man in the park, murdered. But, John Green fast forwards the prologue to present time and talks about Q and Margo and where the two are presently in high school. The author also introduces Q, Radar, and Lacey.
Rising Action
The Rising Action would be when Q and Margo, go on an adventure to get revenge on friends that have done Margo wrong, and the next day Margo flee's the city. Three days later her parents file a missing persons report. Margo's parents and Detective go to Q's house to discuss the habit Margo has about running away with Q and his parents.
Climax ( Turning Point)
The Climax of Paper Towns is when Q and his friends figure out where Margo is hiding. He has to decide to skip graduation or go look for her. Q, decides to skip as well as Radar, Ben, and Lacey. They all skip graduation together to go search for Margo in Algoe, New York
Falling Action
The falling action of this Novel is the point when the 4 of them find Margo and she freaks out. Margo states that she didn't want to be found and the clues that Q found in the book, "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman were not clues she intended him to use. When they find Margo she is very adamant about the fact she is never returning to Orlando, Florida.
Resolution
The resolution is when Q, Margo, Lacey, Radar, and Ben all agree that Margo isn't returning to Orlando. Margo and Q agree to write each other, and Margo agreed to get a phone. Q and Margo realize there's something between them and Q realizes that he's in love with the real Margo and not just the Margo everyone thought she was. Q says in his mind, "I stand in the parking lot , realizing that I've never been this far from home, and here is this girl I love and cannot follow. I hope this is the hero's errand, because not following her is the hardest thing I've ever done. "
